If you have decay in your tooth then you will likely need to have a filling placed. On the NHS we place silver amalgam fillings in your back teeth and white fillings in your front teeth. Amalgam fillings are very strong and can last for a very long time but the problem is they do not look very nice. It is becoming more common for our patients to ask us to privately place white fillings in their back teeth.
What is a filling?
If you have decay in a tooth then this is a type of infection that weakens the tooth. In order to avoid toothache and to keep the tooth healthy, the decay needs to be removed from the tooth. Once the decay is removed there is a space or a hole that is left in the tooth that needs to be filled with something.
About white fillings
At Complete Dental Care we are highly skilled in placing white fillings. We use high quality materials with a wide range of shades and we try to sculpt the fillings to look just like a natural tooth. Some people visit us to have their old amalgam fillings changed to white fillings and it really can make a major difference in the appearance of your teeth when you talk and smile. Having a filling placed is a relatively simple dental procedure. All of the dentists at Complete Dental Care are very gentle and will take their time during your visit. We routinely use topical anaesthetic to numb your gum before administering any numbing injections and once your teeth have been numbed you will feel no pain when you are having your filling placed.
