If you are missing any teeth then dental implants are the best way to replace them but they are not a quick fix. It normally takes around 6 months to have dental implants placed and fully restored. The reason for this is that once the dental implants are placed into the jaw bone they need time to integrate with the bone. The bone grows around the dental implant and so anchors it in place. This process normally takes around 3 to 6 months to take place. After this we would begin constructing the teeth that fit on top which can take anything from a few weeks to a few months depending on the complexity.
We just saw a patient for a review today who had 4 dental implants placed 5 months ago. We attached an acrylic temporary bridge to the implants 2 weeks ago and the patient has been delighted since then. They told us that they have been eating apples and not worrying about their teeth moving or coming out. We are still to make a set of porcelain teeth for the patient and will post picture once it is complete.
