Dental Implants is usually the best way to restore missing teeth. Placing dental implants is a relatively striaght forward procedure but there is a large amount of planning that takes place behind the scenes to ensure. The planning will always take much longer than actually placing the dental implants and it may require several visits but is is necessary to ensure a successful outcome. If you visit us for a consultation we will routinely take photographs of your mouth and lips and also mould of your mouth. This is so that we can start to plan things after you have left and also to help us start to plan for the best appearance. Dental Implants are placed in your jaw bone and so we will also normally take x-rays of your jaw to help determine the amount of bone you have. X-rays however are flat 2-dimensional images and so whilst they give us a good indication of the heigth of your bone it does not tell us the thickness of your bone. Also it can be difficult to visualise some important nerves and other structures on x-rays. If we need more information we will also take a cone beam c.t scan of you jaw; this will let see a 3-dimensional image of your jaw and nerves so that we can accurately plan for the best size and position of dental implant to use. You can see an example of a c.t scan below. This image is only a small snap shot whereas we can actually move it around and actually look inside your jaw bone.
At Complete Dental Care we do not cut any corners; we use high quality materials and components and are always thorough with our treatment. If you would like to visit us for a dental implant consultation then please contact us on 0141 641 2107.
