The dental implant treatment process
At Complete Dental Care, we prioritise a personalised approach to dental implant treatment. Here's a general overview of the process:
Step 1: Initial consultation & planningWe'll discuss your dental history, goals, and suitability for dental implants. We carry out a full assessment of your general health, and using X-rays, we can see how your teeth fit together, and assess your oral health and the density of your jawbone. If we discover you have insufficient bone volume, you may need a grafting procedure to allow for the successful placement of implants.
Step 2: Implant placementFollowing a personalised treatment plan, the implant is surgically placed into your jawbone with local anaesthesia (or sedation, if needed). The implant will take 3-6 months to heal and fuse to the bone, so a temporary tooth is fitted to protect your gum during the healing process.
Step 3: Smile!Once your implant has fully healed and integrated, we fit your final crown or bridge and complete your brand-new smile. We will give you some advice on how to look after your dental implant and leave you to start showing off your smile!

What are dental implants?
Natural teeth consist of a visible crown and a root embedded in the jawbone. A dental implant mimics this structure: A biocompatible titanium post is surgically placed into the jawbone, acting as the artificial root. A custom-made crown, bridge, or denture is attached to the implant fixture, providing a natural-looking and functional replacement.
Are dental implants right for me?
Considering dental implants as a solution for missing teeth involves a careful evaluation of several key aspects. If you are missing one or multiple teeth, this option might be right for you, but it's important to understand the factors involved.
The density and quality of your jawbone are critical, as sufficient bone volume provides the necessary stability for the implant. Furthermore, your overall oral health plays a significant role; healthy gums and surrounding tissues are crucial for successful implant integration.
Your general health is also taken into account, as certain medical conditions can influence the outcome of the procedure. Finally, oral habits such as smoking can negatively impact the healing process. At our Glasgow clinic, we offer comprehensive assessments to thoroughly evaluate these factors and determine if dental implants are the appropriate treatment for your individual needs.
How much do dental implants cost?
As each patient's needs are unique, a personalised assessment is required for an exact quote. However, here's an indicative price range: Dental implant (including porcelain crown) from £2,400. A 3-tooth bridge (2 implants, 3 teeth) from £5,400. Bone grafting: £475. All-on-4 Implants with Zirconia Bridge (same-day teeth): £16,000. How long will my dental implants last?
Dental implants have the potential to last for the rest of your life, provided they are properly looked after. As they are fused into your jawbone, they mimic natural tooth roots exactly. You need to remember to brush and floss twice a day, look after your overall health, and visit your dentist for regular check-up appointments. The replacement tooth fixed on top of your implant may need to be replaced over time due to wear and tear.
How long does dental implant treatment take?
The whole dental implant process takes several months, as the implant needs time to heal and fuse to your bone before fixed permanent teeth can complete your smile. The implant surgery itself is a relatively quick procedure, but healing can take up to six months in some cases. Your new smile will be worth the wait!
