When placing dental implants there are several anatomical features your head and jaw that we need to consider when planning the size and position of the dental implant. One of these features is called the maxillary sinus and it is a hollow area in your top jaw in your cheek bone. When replacing missing back teeth in your top jaw we need to assess the size and position of this sinus. Usually we can plan our dental implants around the sinus but sometimes this is not possible. In these situations we need to carry out a bone grafting procedure called a sinus lift. A bone graft is a way of getting your body to make more bone for us to place the dental implant.

There are different techniques for performing a sinus lift and in most cases we can carry out a simple procedure called an internal sinus lift with is relatively non-invasive and would be carried out at the same time as placing the dental implants.

We are fully equiped to provide all types of dental implant treatment and so if you have any missing teeth that you would like replace then please contact us.
